“AI to Catch Drowsy and Drunk Driving”, Focus HNS Launches ‘Magellan’

Focus H&S (KRW 1,991 ▼19 -0.95%) (hereinafter referred to as Focus H&S), a company specializing in AI-based physical security and control solutions, is making a full-fledged entry into the vehicle control solution market. It aims to open up a new market based on the AI ​​technology and IoT (Internet of Things) technology it has accumulated in the physical security and control market.

Focus H&S announced on the 20th that it has taken the first step toward preempting the new market called the safe mobility platform through ‘Magellan M’, a vehicle control solution based on its own technological prowess.

Magellan is a control platform that can be applied to various means of transportation including vehicles, and is the only solution in Korea that allows real-time video confirmation on the web. It is expected to be widely applied in areas where real-time monitoring is essential, such as ambulances and cash transport vehicles. It is receiving attention from the industry because it has excellent security functions and can even store and manage video at a low cost. It is also receiving great attention in the leisure industry because it can prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, which frequently occurs among campers, by applying environmental sensors to camper vans.

Focus H&S applied AIoT (Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things) technology that combines AI and IoT technologies to analyze driver abnormal behavior and prevent accidents in advance. When a driver falls asleep at the wheel, loses attention, or engages in inappropriate behavior such as talking on the phone or smoking while driving, an alarm sounds to alert the driver and help prevent accidents in advance.

Focus H&S explained, “In large-scale production sites such as plants and heavy industries, Magellan can be applied to all means of transportation including heavy equipment to realize a ‘Safe & Smart Factory’ that can prevent industrial accidents in advance.” In the case of the logistics industry, a ‘Safe Driving System’ can be implemented that analyzes the behavior of delivery drivers and warns them when they show warning behaviors such as yawning to prevent drowsy driving in advance.

Focus H&S is currently pursuing Magellan’s GS (Good Software) certification. If Magellan obtains this certification, it will be eligible for future procurement and may be designated as a product for priority purchase by public institutions.
